Insemination (IUI)
Diers is one of the leading clinics in Denmark and Europe specialising in natural cycle insemination (IUI).
We provide fertility treatments without the use of hormones, respecting your body’s natural rhythm.
As a rule, you do not need any form of hormone therapy. We customise the treatment according to your natural cycle.
All you need is an initial consultation and a few blood tests before treatment can begin.
Our prices for IUI treatment are significantly lower than IVF treatment. See our prices here.
We are open 365 days a year, so you can start your treatment during your next menstrual cycle.
Our approach prioritises the least invasive and most natural fertility treatments, unless specific circumstances suggest otherwise.
Most single women and lesbian or transgender couples are healthy and have regular menstrual cycles.
For them, a simple insemination treatment with donor sperm is often all that is needed to achieve pregnancy.
We provide a gentle and tailored treatment aligned with your body’s natural rhythm and cycle. In most cases, this means you can avoid the use of fertility medications altogether.
We know how important it is that the process is flexible and follows your body’s natural rhythm.
That’s why we’re open 7 days a week, 365 days a year. So you can get treatment when your body is ready for it.
We have no waiting time, and we also offer treatment if your current clinic is temporarily closed, such as during holiday periods.
IUI treatment increases your chances of pregnancy for several reasons:
Insemination treatment with us is a smooth and fast process.
We make an effort not to complicate things more than necessary in order to make your path to pregnancy as short as possible.
We’ll talk about your situation and give you a thorough explanation of how to prepare for treatment. You can choose a telephone, online or in-person consultation. Read more about the initial consultation here.
You will need to have a few blood tests and possibly other tests to make sure you are ready for the insemination.
If you need treatment with donor sperm, you must choose a sperm donor. We have a wide selection of donor sperm in stock from the sperm banks BORN and LIVIO. If you have found your favourite donor at another sperm bank, it is of course also possible to use this donor for your treatment.
We are happy to help you find the right sperm donor.
Come for IUI treatment when the ovulation test is positive. Appointments will always be available on the day you come for treatment.
We offer insemination with both donor sperm and partner sperm.
If you as a couple have experienced unexplained infertility, you can choose IUI treatment with purified sperm from your partner.
It is also possible to use a known donor if you have a friend or acquaintance who wants to help.
We offer a wide selection of open and closed sperm donors from Scandinavian sperm banks.
We stock donor sperm on-site, making it easier and more affordable for you. You won’t need to order or pay for delivery from a sperm bank.
Our team is ready to assist you in choosing the right donor and guide you through this important decision.
Insemination is the least invasive and simplest form of fertility treatment.
Read here what happens before and during insemination.
Before the insemination, we will guide you on how to use ovulation tests so that together we can determine the best time for treatment. We are available if you have any questions along the way.
On the day of the treatment, we will perform an ultrasound scan to confirm that ovulation has occurred or is about to occur, ensuring the timing is optimal.
Once confirmed, we prepare the sperm for the insemination.
During insemination, we pass the purified sperm sample through the cervix and directly into the uterus with a thin, sterile catheter.
Pregnancy occurs naturally when a sperm fertilises an egg, which then implants to the lining of the uterus.
This procedure is similar to a regular gynaecological examination and most women experience no pain or discomfort.
At Diers’ IUI department you will experience a safe and inclusive environment where everyone is welcome.
Our experienced team understands the importance of you feeling relaxed and calm throughout the IUI process. Furthermore, we have the time and the interpersonal skills to sense exactly what is needed for you to feel comfortable and safe. So, with us, you will be in very good hands.
Insemination, also known as IntraUterine Insemination (IUI), is a fertility treatment where sperm is inserted directly into the uterus. This increases the chance of the sperm fertilising an egg.
The benefits of hormone-free insemination are that the treatment follows your natural cycle, which means you avoid the physical and psychological side effects of hormone therapy. It is a gentle method and most women experience few or no side effects.
Insemination treatment is suitable for single women, lesbians, trans couples and heterosexual couples who want to have children. It is especially recommended for women with a regular cycle and no fertility problems. When using your partner’s sperm, the best results are achieved if your partner’s sperm quality is good or slightly/moderately impaired. If the sperm quality is significantly reduced, we recommend insemination treatment with donor sperm or ICSI treatment, possibly combined with TESA treatment
Insemination increases pregnancy chances by placing purified sperm directly into the uterus, close to the egg, at the most optimal time in the woman’s cycle. This process shortens the sperm cells’ journey and improves the chance of natural fertilisation.
With us, you can start your insemination treatment already in your next menstrual cycle after your initial consultation. We have no waiting time and the IUI clinic is open 365 days a year.
As a rule, hormone treatment is not needed for insemination. The treatment is tailored to your natural cycle to avoid fertility medication. If in special cases a mild hormone supplement is needed, for example to promote ovulation, we offer that too.
Insemination with donor sperm is typically used when there is no male partner or if the man’s sperm quality is significantly reduced. Partner sperm can be used in the treatment if the man has good or slightly/moderately reduced sperm quality.
We offer access to a large selection of both open and closed sperm donors from two Scandinavian sperm banks: BORN and LIVIO. You can access a range of information about the sperm donors and we help you find the right donor based on your preferences. Read our advice on how to find a sperm donor and contact us to get access to more information on our available sperm donors.
We use IUI MOT20 donor sperm for inseminations.
MOT indicates the minimum number of sperm cells in the semen sample. MOT20 means that the sperm quality is at least 20 million motile sperm cells per millilitre.
We know that several fertility clinics use IUI MOT10 for insemination treatments, which makes the price of a treatment cheaper.
However, it is our experience that IUI MOT20 significantly increases the chances of pregnancy. Therefore, we advise against using IUI MOT10, as for many it will require more treatment attempts.
The insemination procedure is a very simple procedure. After monitoring your ovulation, purified sperm is placed in the uterus via a thin catheter. The treatment feels like a regular gynaecological examination. Read our step-by-step guide on the IUI process.
Most women experience no pain during insemination. The procedure is over quickly and is very similar to a gynaecological examination.
Yes, our IUI department is open every day of the week, including weekends and public holidays. This means you can get treatment when it best suits your cycle.
The chances of getting pregnant with insemination treatment vary depending on individual factors – especially the woman’s age plays an important role. Diers has one of the highest success rates in Denmark. This is partly due to our expertise in timing the treatment and our broad experience in insemination treatments from the large number of treatments we perform every year.
