Same high quality

Diers Selected donors are all ID-release.

They have an extended profile and are tested according to the same thorough standards as in the big sperm banks.

We only use MOT20 – the highest quality sperm – for IUI treatments. This is not the standard everywhere – many clinics use the lower MOT10 quality.

The donor choice is entirely yours. If the decision feels difficult, we provide different ways to guide you:

  • Staff impressions and personal advice (free) – our staff know the donors personally and are happy to share their impressions to give you a more nuanced picture.

Rules and guidelines for Diers Selected donors

Openness and clear structures build trust. That’s why we work exclusively with ID-release donors — donors who agree to share their identity.

We also set clear limits, together with our donors, on the maximum number of families.

What does ID-release mean?

When the child turns 18, they have the right to learn the identity of their donor. Any personal meeting is completely voluntary for both the donor-conceived and the donor.

We firmly believe that transparency is the best approach for both the child and the donor. Modern DNA technologies and services like MyHeritage have also made true anonymity impossible in practice. For these reasons, we only offer ID-release donors.

Family Limits per Donor

Danish law permits a donor to help create children in up to 12 families within Denmark. At Diers Selected, we have reduced this limit to a maximum of 6 families in Denmark.

Each donor also has a worldwide family limit of either 5, 25, or 75 families. The donors have individually chosen which global limit applies to their donations.

Liza Diers on the clinic’s sperm donors

As a mum of three wonderful donor-conceived children, I know from the heart what matters when choosing a sperm donor. It’s not just about medical checks – it’s about trust, openness and feeling safe in the decision.

That’s why I’m proud that we can now offer a group of unique donors who applied for the right reasons, and who we’ve been able to get to know, select and carefully screen ourselves.”

Frequently asked questions about Diers Selected donor sperm

We test donors according to the current standards set out in the Danish Health Authority guidelines and the EU Tissue Directive. We test for a number of infectious and genetic diseases and assess the sperm quality of the donor applicant. During the donation process, the donor is also tested continuously to ensure that no changes in risk behaviour or infectious diseases have occurred. Read more about screening and testing.

It means that the child can be informed of the donor’s identity when they turn 18. Any personal meeting is completely voluntary for both donor and child. All Diers Selected donors are ID-release. Learn more about sperm donor categories.

With modern DNA technology and services like MyHeritage, true anonymity is no longer possible. We believe openness from the start is the best solution – giving clarity and reassurance for both the donor and the child.

An IUI treatment including ultrasound with Diers Selected donor sperm, Max 75 (MOT20+) costs 1,300 €.

Our almost 20 years of experience has shown that MOT20 sperm units significantly increase the chance of pregnancy in IUI treatments compared to MOT10. That’s why we only use MOT20+ sperm units for insemination treatments in the clinic.

Each donor has a limit of 5, 25 or 75 families worldwide. The donor himself has decided which global maximum applies to him when he started as a donor.
