Articicial insemination

Known donor

Do you have a friend or acquaintance who wishes to be a known donor?

If you wish to use a known donor, we will gladly help at Diers Klinik
Accoding to Danish law, the donor must be treated as a sperm donor, given that you are not a couple. So, he has to come to the clinic for a consultation and answer a line of questions regarding his health and history of illness within the family.

The donor must also undergo a health examination performed by his own doctor immediately before the consultation at the clinic and before the first donation of sperm. At the clinic, we need to see documentation of this examintation at the consultation.

The donor must be tested for:

  • HIV 1+2
  • Hepatitis B and C
  • Chlamydia
  • Gonorrhea
  • Syphilis

His sperm must be frozen before the treatment, and he must also have a blood test taken after the freezing so that the sperm units can be released for the insemination treatment.

Before the insemination you have to sign an informed consent where you accept the risks that might occur by using a known donor.

You can read more about the civil rights consequences in connection with the application of a known donor here.

You may gladly contact us if you wish to know further information as well as prices regarding treatment using a known donor.
