You can prepare from home
Before you begin a treatment at Diers Klinik, there are a few preparations you need to conduct.
We are allowed to treat women until their 46th birthday.
As a starting point, we offer treatment to all women and we have, as one of the few clinics in Denmark, no BMI limit. Even if you are overweight, you can still start treatment without having to lose weight first.
The following tests need to be done before starting treatment:
- HIV 1 & 2 (Anti-HIV 1,2)
- Hepatitis B (HBs Ag og Anti-HBc)
- Hepatitis C (Anti-HCV Ab)
The following tests are recommended to be taken before starting treatment:
- Chlamydia (If you are younger than 30 years of age)
- Smear test (If this has not been done within the last 12 months)
- If you have not been vaccinated for Rubella, you should be tested for antibodies against Rubella
You can make an appointment with your own doctor, who can take the necessary blood test.
Alternatively, if you prefer, we can also arrange to take the tests here at the clinic, if you plan to come here before the day of treatment.
We do not expect that all tests have been started or finished before you book an appointment for the non-binding consultation.
Earlier infections of the uterus
Earlier infections can affect and decrease the chances of becoming pregnant.
If you have had an infection in the uterus or in the fallopian tubes, or if you have had chlamydia or gonorrhea, scar tissue could possibly have formed in the fallopian tubes. This would make the passage of both egg and sperm cells impossible.
Have you had such infections earlier, we recommend you have an examination to find out if there is free passage in your fallopian tubes. If not, insemination treatment will not be successful, and you should therefore consider other treatment options as for example IVF treatment.
Also, if you have been diagnosed with endometriosis, you should have the passage in your fallopian tubes examined before starting any treatment.
You can make an appointment with a gynaecologist near you for the examination.
Alternatively, you can contact our sister clinic, Diers IVF, situated in the same building as Diers Klinik. Our colleagues at Diers IVF are experts in the field. They can do the examination of the fallopian tubes and can help you determine if insemination or IVF treatment is the best option for you. Should the latter be the case, they can also perform the IVF treatment.
